What Makes a Computer Faster RAM or SSD
If your laptop feels slow and has done various optimization methods but is still slow, and you are thinking of replacing a laptop with a more powerful one? and don't have the budget to buy a new laptop? Upgrading components is the solution.
To upgrade a laptop, there are usually only 2 components, namely SD and RAM, but which one comes first? for a friend, the sultan might be able to buy both components at once, but what about the poor like me and you. Choosing one of them is the solution, now which one comes first? it all depends on your performance needs. So here I will give a little explanation.
SSD or RAM ? Which One Upgrade First
Upgrade RAM first
Choosing a ram upgrade first if you want to focus on multitasking such as opening many applications, or opening multiple tabs in the browser might be the right choice. Opening many applications requires a lot of ram to process these applications to run on the desktop, therefore upgrading ram is the right choice for those of you who are concerned with multitasking performance.
So after you upgrade the ram, for example from 4gb to 8gb, the result you will feel is when opening many applications it won't lag or feel heavy, or when you open multiple tabs in the browser there will be no lag. Like my experience, after upgrading ram from 4gb to 8gb, before upgrading just opening 4 chrome tabs, the performance felt heavy but after I upgraded ram opening 7 tabs + Photoshop it still felt optimal performance.
Upgrade the SSD first
Choose the ssd upgrade first if you want to focus on read-write speed or speed of opening applications, booting, rendering, etc. which require read-write capabilities from the ssd storage. With ssd the performance of opening applications and booting will be much faster than HDD, this is because ssd has a faster read write rate compared to hdd. If you use SDD during the boot process or turn on the laptop, it won't take more than 1 minute and when opening the application it will be faster than using HDD.
So the impact that you will feel after upgrading SDS is booting will be much faster in under 1 minute (provided that you move / install Windows on your new SDD), opening applications is faster, copying and pasting files will be faster in SDSD storage. .
Conclusion
So which one was upgraded first? SD or RAM? it all returns to your needs and budget. If you have more budget, you can immediately upgrade both of them or even replace your laptop.
